The Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, has indicated strong interest in working with the Delta State Government to expand access to international oil and gas training programmes designed to empower youths with marketable skills and boost the state’s economy.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at Government House, Asaba, the Principal and Chief Executive of PTI, Dr. Samuel Onoji, said the Institute was ready to offer subsidised, globally recognized training opportunities that would strengthen the employability of young Deltans.

Dr. Onoji praised the Governor’s infrastructure drive, describing the level of development witnessed so far under his administration as unprecedented.

He further thanked the state government for reconnecting electricity to the Institute and extended an invitation to Governor Oborevwori to attend PTI’s International Hydrocarbons and Scientific Conference scheduled for October in Abuja.

Governor Oborevwori, in his response, hailed PTI for its longstanding contributions to manpower development in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector and commended the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Petroleum, for allocating 25 hectares of land to Delta State.

“PTI holds a special place in our hearts because it paved the way for other federal institutions to establish a presence in Delta.

“We value your role in the state, and my administration will continue to partner with the Institute to achieve shared goals,” the Governor assured.

As a demonstration of that commitment, Governor Oborevwori announced the donation of a Coaster Bus and an 18-seater Hiace Bus to improve transportation for PTI staff and students.

Founded in 1972, PTI is recognised as Africa’s leading petroleum training institute, mandated to produce highly skilled manpower for the oil and gas industry.
