Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is set to officially launch the construction of the Otovwodo Junction Flyover in Ughelli on Monday, January 12, 2026.
This initiative is part of the governor’s commitment to advancing critical urban infrastructure throughout the state.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m., as announced by Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary. Guests are advised to arrive and be seated by 10:30 a.m. for the event.
Construction work is already underway at the project site, led by the contracting firm Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, underscoring the administration’s dedication to the timely completion of this significant infrastructure project.
The Otovwodo Junction Flyover is one of two new flyovers recently approved by the State Executive Council (EXCO), complementing the progress of three other flyover projects nearing completion, which include PTI Junction, DSC Roundabout, and Enerhen Junction, also under the management of Julius Berger.
The second approved flyover is planned for Uromi Junction in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area.
To support the Otovwodo flyover project and facilitate smoother traffic flow during construction, Governor Oborevwori has directed the development of four adjoining roads, Ovie Palace Road, Okogbe Road, Oyakemeagbegha Street, and Edo Road.
These enhancements aim to alleviate congestion at the busy junction and reduce disruptions for motorists and residents.
Additionally, preliminary works have commenced at the Uromi Junction flyover site, with a groundbreaking ceremony for that project to be announced soon.
These flyover projects reflect the Oborevwori administration’s comprehensive infrastructure renewal strategy, aimed at improving traffic management, enhancing safety, and stimulating economic growth across Delta State.
