The Governor gave the advice while presenting staff of office to His Royal Majesty (HRM) Obi Boniface Uyanwanne, Obi of Ubulubu Kingdom in Aniocha north local government area of the state.
The Governor represented by his Deputy Barr. Kingsley Otuaro congratulated the monarch, on his recognition as the Obi of Ubulubu kingdom.
He prayed for God’s guidance, wisdom and peaceful reign on the throne while appealing to Deltans to observe all Covid 19 protocols to avert the second wave of the pandemic.
The Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor on Media, Elohor Rita Agbra, said the Deputy Governor commended the process leading to the peaceful succession to the throne and advised the people to respect the tradition as the Obi stool had great significance for the Ubulubu kingdom.
He urged the people to promote the intergrity of the stool by according the monarch the honour he deserves.
Barrister Otuaro advised the Monarch to carry out his duties in a transparent manner and institute an all inclusive governance.
As a custodian of traditions of the land, he told the monarch not to give room for lapses which would question his competence and ability to govern.
He also appealed to him to follow the path of dialogue and consultation in dealing with his people.
The Deputy Governor used the occasion to assure the people of Ubulubu kingdom that their request to construct the four kilometres Obomkpa to Ubulubu road would be channeled to the appropriate authority and given necessary attention.
He advised the sons and daughters of Ubulubu kingdom to organize themselves into cooperative societies in order to take advantage of the various programmes of the state government particularly the Delta State Production and Processing Support Programme to improve their production capacities.
The Head of Personnel Management, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Mrs Patricia Dede said Ubulubu kingdom is one of the six kingdoms in Odiani clan with an agelong traditional institution whose monarchical system is based on the principle of Okpala-buisi where the most senior Okpala title holder emerges as the monarch.
She said Obi Boniface Uyanwanne is the most senior Okpala title holder in the kingdom and appealed to the monarch to ensure peace, justice and fairness in the discharge of his responsibilities.
The Obi of Ubulubu kingdom, Obi Boniface Uyanwanne in his remarks read by Honourable Isaac Okoh thanked the state government for the formal presentation of the staff of office describing it as a practical demonstration of government’s respect for traditional institutions.
