Delta Government Reiterates  Commitment To Peaceful Co-Existence

Delta state government has again reiterated its commitment to ensuring that peaceful co-existence exists between all residents of the state.

This reassurance was given by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, when he hosted the leaders of the Muslim faithfuls in the state during the Eid-el-kabir celebration in his residence in Okpanam.

Chief Ukah noted that the administration of  Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, is irrevocably committed to the promotion of peaceful co-existence as the sustenance of peace is a cardinal focus of the Smart Delta Agenda.

The SSG appreciated the Muslim faithfuls for their years of peaceful co-existence in the state and charged them to continue to preach peace to their children and everyone around them, stating that peace is achievable and necessary in the society for development to thrive .

He said that there is absolutely no reason why we cannot have peace if we want to enjoy the dividends of democracy.

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Special Duties (Non Indigenes) and representative of the Arewa Community, Alhaji Muktar Usman, advised the people of the state to align themselves with the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) as a result of the party’s purposeful agenda for the state.

He assured the state government that the Arewa community  will continue to support  the administration of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa in order for him to finish strong.

The Chairman of the Delta State Muslims Pilgrim Board, Alhaji Awalu Tukur, thanked the state government for recognising the Arewa community in the state even as he noted that they have about five appointments in the present administration.

Alhaji Tukur said that the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led adminstration has been very gracious towards them as he recalled that during the pandemic, palliatives were sent to their members.

In their separate remarks, various leaders of the Arewa communites across the state; Obi (Barr.) Mohammed Nduka, Dr. Afolabi Ibrahim and Alhaji Salisu Hammer (Chairman Arewa Builders Association, Okpanam), commended the state government for supporting the Arewa Community in the state and pledged their unflinching support to the Okowa led administration and the PDP.
