As part of sustained efforts to maintain a cleaner, healthier and more environmentally friendly capital city, the Delta State Waste Management Board under the watch of Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema, has successfully carried out waste evacuation exercises at strategic locations in Asaba, the Oshimili south local government area of the State.
The sanitation operation carried out on Wednesday, January 14, 2026,
covered Koka by Kwale Park and the Koka Flyover axis, two high-traffic areas that had experienced noticeable waste buildup due to increased commercial and human activities.
The exercise which was supervised by Evelyn Orisewezie, involved the deployment of waste evacuation trucks and sanitation personnel who efficiently cleared accumulated refuse, restoring cleanliness and improving the aesthetic outlook of the environment.
She noted that the exercise aligns with the Delta State Government’s commitment to effective waste management, urban renewal and public health safety.
Residents and commuters around the affected areas expressed appreciation for the prompt intervention, describing it as a timely response that would help prevent environmental degradation and health hazards.
The state government has reiterated its call on residents, traders and motorists to support sanitation efforts by properly disposing of waste and complying with environmental regulations.
Authorities emphasized that regular waste evacuation exercises will continue across Asaba and other parts of the state to sustain cleanliness and enhance the overall quality of urban life.
The Koka waste evacuation exercise underscores the administration’s resolve to keep Asaba clean, orderly and befitting of its status as the state capital.
