The Delta State Government has commenced the maintenance of the government-approved dumpsite in Agbarho as part of renewed efforts to promote environmental sanitation, public health, and sustainable waste management across the state.

The exercise, which began on Saturday December 13, 2025, is being powered by the Chairman of the Delta State Waste Management Board (DSWMB), Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema, in collaboration with the Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council, Hon. Jaro Egbo.

The operation is being carried out under the supervision of Member (South), Hon. Mrs. Juliet Enifome Ethe, and Member (Central), Hon. Felix Erhimedafe, who are coordinating on-ground activities to ensure compliance with environmental standards and effective execution of the maintenance work.

Heavy-duty equipment has been deployed to properly manage accumulated waste, reclaim affected areas, and restore the dumpsite to an acceptable operational condition.

The initiative is aimed at mitigating environmental hazards, curbing indiscriminate waste disposal, and improving the overall cleanliness of surrounding communities.

Speaking on the intervention, officials emphasized that the Agbarho dumpsite maintenance aligns with the state government’s broader commitment to environmental sustainability and healthier living conditions for residents.

They noted that regular maintenance of approved dumpsites remains critical to preventing pollution, flooding, and public health risks.

Residents of Agbarho and neighbouring communities have been urged to support the initiative by adhering strictly to approved waste disposal practices and cooperating with waste management authorities.

The DSWMB reaffirmed its commitment to continuous engagement with local governments to ensure that waste management infrastructure across Delta State is properly maintained and efficiently managed.
