Delta Government Assures Red Cross Of Support

Delta state government has pledged continuous support to the state chapter of the Nigeria Red Cross Society, towards effective humanitarian service delivery.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, made the pledge in Asaba when the Executive members of the body visited him in his office in Asaba.

Chief Ukah encouraged the society  to carry on their humanitarian services diligently in the state, and added that he would set up a committee to look into the 2021 report of their activities submitted to him with the view to proffer solutions to their challenges.

He also said that a synergy would be created between the Red Cross and the state Ministry of Health to enable their officials access some of the facilities of the health ministry such as the State Ambulance Service when the need arises.

The SSG thanked the team for the visit and prayed God to continue to strengthen and give them wisdom to carry on with their humanitarian services.

Earlier,  the State Branch Secretary of the Red Cross Society, Mr. Charles Arinomor, said the visit was to present the Annual Report of their activities in the state and also solicit  the assistance of the state government.

Mr. Arinomor listed their challenges to include lack of functional ambulance and vehicle for easy movement.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation of the report.
In a related development, the state government has assured alumni associations in the state of its continuous partnership with the view to compliment their efforts in developing their alma maters.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, gave the assurance when members of St. Charles  Old Boys Association, Abavo, visited him in his office in Asaba.

The SSG noted that the education sector remained a priority to this administration and called on individuals and corporate organisations to partner with the state in developing the sector.

Earlier, the National President of the association, Mr. Steve Megwai, said they were in the SSG’s office to solicit the state government’s assistance towards the rehabilitation of some facilities in school.

He assured the SSG of their support at all times while commending him for being a worthy ambassador of the school as an old boy.
