In a bold step toward enhancing digital literacy and inclusive education, the First Lady of Delta State, Her Excellency Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, has distributed 500 uLesson educational tablets to students across public primary and secondary schools in the state.

The distribution ceremony, held on Thursday at Government House, Asaba, was a collaborative effort between the Renewed Hope Initiative and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Describing the gesture as a strategic investment in the future of Delta’s children, Deaconess Oborevwori said, “Today, we are distributing 500 uLesson tablets, 100 for Primary School pupils, 200 for Junior Secondary, and 200 for Senior Secondary students.

“This is part of our mission to equip our children with the digital tools they need to thrive in today’s world.”

She emphasized that the project is rooted in a shared commitment to educational transformation, adding, “This partnership with Renewed Hope Initiative and the NDDC reflects our resolve to close the digital divide and improve learning outcomes.”

The First Lady expressed hope that the digital devices would promote independent study and boost academic performance, particularly for students in underserved areas.

“It is my earnest prayer that what we have given today yields a hundredfold in Jesus’ name,” she said.

In her welcome address, the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Catherine Onyeme, hailed the initiative as a strong statement of the government’s commitment to empowerment.

“This government is dedicated to enriching and uplifting the lives of our people. This initiative is a shining example,” she remarked.

Mrs. Onyeme also addressed local traders in attendance, urging them to use the support they received with diligence and purpose.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, highlighted the transformational role of technology in education.

“With access to the internet and these tablets, our children can compete globally. This tool will help them break barriers,” he said, commending the government’s efforts in securing and developing the education sector.

Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, praised both Deaconess Oborevwori and the First Lady of Nigeria for championing educational empowerment and giving hope to the next generation.

Beyond the tablet distribution, the event also featured the presentation of gas ovens to bakers, grinding machines to traders, and cash grants to support small businesses.

Grateful beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the First Lady and her partners for the support, describing it as timely and impactful.
