…as Archbishop Iboyi Applauds Gbagi:s Godly Disposition
Governorship candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Sheriff Oborevwori has boycotted the invitation of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Delta State chapter, for an interactive session on his plans for Deltans come 2023.
Also, his opponent in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Deputy Senate President cum Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly (NASS), Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, shunned the invitation.
Similarly, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, turned down the call of the apex decision making body of the Christian body in the state.
Although no official reason was given by the trio of Oborevwori, Omo-Agege, Ogboru and others for their refusal to appear before CAN, it was gathered that they see the body is an appendage of the Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration.
In their first letter dated 13th September 2022, the initial scheduled date for the programme the state government halted the event on the grounds that campaigns for political parties have not been opened by the electoral empire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
It was reliably gathered that letters were dispatched to all the governorship candidates of political parties jostling for Okowa’s job.
According to CAN, “Further to our previous letter CAN/DTS/PSMC/2022/04 of 13th September, I am directed to write and affirm that the interactive session of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Delta State chapter with candidates of political parties will hold as previously scheduled on Friday 21st October 2022 from 9:00am to 4:00pm and on Saturday 22nd October 2022, from 9:00am to 2:00pm”.
The letter availed the candidates the opportunity to communicate their preferred date and time to the body in which it would be convenient for them to appear before the body between Friday and Saturday respectively.
“In order to avoid clashes and conflicts with the political time tables or campaign schedules of political parties, all governorship candidates are humbly requested to quickly send text message or WhatsApp message to 08035512… To indicate their preferred/convenient date and time for their participation from the two dates and the time limits stipulated by the State CAN.
“The State CAN is looking forward to having robust and friendly interactive session’s with all governorship candidates”.
The letter was signed by Rev. Prof. Oke Okokotu, Secretary, State CAN Political Strategy and Mobilization Committee.
An insider source disclosed: “We took letter of invitation to the homes of all the governorship candidates, as you can see this is the second day.
“Apart from the gubernatorial candidate of SDP, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, no other governorship hopeful was present at the occasion.
“The truth is that, they deliberately refused to attend the event. Enough publication was done on Vanguard and The Pointer Newspapers for the occasion and besides, invitation was duly sent to them”, a source said under anonymity.
The development is seen as a sign of disrespect for the body of Christ especially a Christian body headed by spiritual fathers that ought to be honoured and seen as embodiment of truth.
Gbagi like a prophet had told the gathering that the other candidates would not appear before the body because they see them as nobody.
According to him, “I am the first and only aspirant who respected and came to CAN in Warri, at Okorote’s Church as an aspirant in PDP. If I don’t believe in the Church, I will not come.
“And I am still the only governorship candidate that has come, I can assure you that none of them will not come because they see this body as a toothless body that is controlled by Okowa.
“Because they don’t believe, they just see that you people are just noise makers which is not true. So sir, I will sign any agreement with CAN.
‘I have said, I will establish the ministry of Religious Affairs, I will do that on the day of my swearing in. I will deliver on my promises because it is the time that has been made by God.
Meanwhile, the founder of Promise Kingdom Ministries, also known as Overflow and Spiritual Father of Okpe kingdom, Archbishop Iboyi Godday, had eulogized Gbagi, for his Godly disposition.
The Archbishop who doubles as the Chairman of Okpe Christian Association, applauded the largest private investor in the State during his church service in Sapele, the administrative headquarter of Sapele local government area of Delta state.
Hear him: “I thank Olorogun Gbagi, not because he is here but because of his respect and reverence for God, mark that.
“If he is rude and proud, he will put God aside and he will say anything I want I will have but you can see him putting God first and like I have been praying that as many who always seek God first, God will give answers to their prayers”.
It would be recalled that Gbagi, OON, along with the Deputy governorship candidate of his party, Chief Mrs Oshilim Ishioma Rosemary, stormed the Secretariat of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to unveil his manifesto to the Christian body in the state.
