Oshimili North Council In Comatose State Over Alleged High-handedness

Unless Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State and the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) family wades into the current crisis brewing in Oshimili north local government area of the State, there may be a total show down by the chairman, Innocent Esewezie and councilors.

Investigation revealed that trouble started when the councilors called for income and expenditure of the Council but they were ignored by the Chairman whom they alleged runs the Council area as his personal business.

According to investigation, a source close to the chairman who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the chairman is presently constructing two gigantic building projects, a Liaison Office at Ibusa and another at the Secretariat without approval.

Also, it was gathered that the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Henry Adim Ofuasia, has suspended sitting indefinitely over calls for the suspension of the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Tony Nweke.

It was learnt that the Council Chairman, is purportedly chiding the Majority Leader of the House over alleged anti-party activities, gross misconduct, been economical with the truth and High-handedness which was gathered that the entire Councilors frowned at.

It was reliably learnt that the Chairman purportedly held a meeting of Ibusa Councilors neglecting the rest, thereby dividing the Legislative Arm of the local government.

It was gathered that the Councilors are not ready to back out unless their demands are met just as they insisted that the Treasurer of the Local Government (TLG), Afigor Emmanuel, appears before the House to give detail income and expenditure of the Council in the last six months.

It was learnt that the Council Chairman, is operating a divide and rule system which is tantamount to destroying the cordial relationship that existed in the House before now.

At press time, painstaking efforts to reach the chairman, Esewezie, for his reaction proved abortive.
