The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) on Tuesday, July 30, 2025, intensified its environmental sanitation campaign across major locations within the capital territory, reaffirming its commitment to a cleaner, healthier urban environment.
The comprehensive cleanup exercise commenced at the State Secretariat and extended through Macdon, Akpu Junction, NTA Road, Anwai Road, Inter Beau Roundabout, and Camp 74.
The operation drew the active participation of agency personnel, sanitation workers, and public enlightenment teams.
At the forefront of the public sensitization campaign was Ms. Ngozi Peter, who led her team in educating residents and business owners on the significance of environmental hygiene.
The team also emphasized the need for compliance with the Private Sector Participation (PSP) waste disposal scheme, urging residents to register and properly manage their waste.
The sanitation operation, coordinated by Mr. Isaac Nwosu of the Environmental Sanitation Unit and supported by the agency’s Field Marshal, involved the removal of waste, clearing of blocked drains, and demolition of illegal structures that obstruct water flow and contribute to environmental hazards.
Speaking during the exercise, the Director General of DSCTDA, Mr. Patrick Ukah, reiterated the agency’s zero-tolerance stance on environmental violations.
He warned that individuals or businesses found flouting sanitation regulations would be prosecuted before a mobile court.
The agency’s renewed efforts are part of a broader initiative to enforce environmental regulations, promote sustainable hygiene practices, and ensure a cleaner and more livable capital territory.
