Delta Attorney-General, Others Pay Tributes As Pioneer AG Committed To Mother Earth

The remains of the pioneer Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Delta State, Chief Patrick Okpakpor, has been laid to rest at Otor-Iyede, Isoko north local government area of the state over the weekend amidst eulogy from prominent Deltans who graced the event including the state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

Governor Okowa who was represented by the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Peter Mrakpor, described the late Okpakpor as an elder statesman who contributed his quota to the development of law and the advancement of legal practice in the state.

While eulogizing the late A.P.J. Okpakpor who was the first Attorney-General of the State between 1991 and 1992 and a one time Commissioner of Finance in the defunct Bendel State, the Governor described the late septuagenarian as an astute politician and a legal practitioner of high repute who would be surely missed by the State.

The funeral service which was held at the St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Otor-Iyede and presided over by the Bishop of the Oleh Diocese, Anglican Communion, Rt. Revd John Usiwoma Aruakpor in his sermon admonished Christians to live their lives with eternity in view, even as he paid glowing tributes on the late Okpakpor for a life well lived.

The funeral service was attended by serving and retired Judicial Officers, political office holders, members of the bar including the immediate past Chief Judge of the State, Justice Zai Abiodun Smith, Senator James Manager, Senator representing Delta South at the National Assembly, former SSG of the State and Director-General of Warri, Uvwie and Environs Development Agency, Comrade Ovuozorie Macaulay, Chief Andrew Orugbo, a former Attorney-General of the State, the Functioning Solicitor-General of the State, Mr. Omamuzo Erebe, Chike Onyemenam, SAN amongst other high ranking personalities.
