Delta Attorney General Mourns Death Of Pioneer Commissioner

Delta State Attorney-General (AG) and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Peter Mrakpor, has mourn the dealth of a former colleague, Chief Patrick Okpakpor, who the cold hands of death snatched away.

Chief Okpakpor, was the first Attorney-General of the State between 1991 and 1992, who passed away on Friday at the age of 78.

The death of the deceased has been described as a colossal loss to the State and the legal profession.

The State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Mrakpor, in a condolence message described the late AP.J. Okpakpor, who was a one-time Commissioner for Finance in the defunct Bendel State and the pioneer Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice when the Delta State was created in 1991, as an astute politician and a legal practitioner of high repute.

Mrakpor said the late Okpakpor contributed immensely to the development of law and the advancement of legal practice in the State.

While also extending his condolence to the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the Justice Commissioner affirmed that the deceased was a prominent member of the Bar who also served the State meritoriously as the Chairman of the State Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy during the first tenure of the sitting governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

Mrakpor, who expressed deep pain at the demise of the septuagenarian, prayed God to grant the family of the deceased and members of the NBA, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and prayed for the repose of the soul of Okpakpor.
