The Delta State House of Assembly is set to celebrate the second anniversary of the 8th Assembly with a series of events designed to promote unity, service, and gratitude.
The two-day celebration, under the leadership of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, who represents Warri South West Constituency, kicks off on Saturday, June 21, with a novelty football match between members of the House and the Delta State Executive Council.
The friendly match will take place at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, and is aimed at fostering camaraderie, teamwork, and mutual respect among key actors in the Delta governance structure.
According to a statement titled “Celebrating Unity and Service” by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, the football encounter is part of efforts to deepen collaboration and build goodwill within the Delta State project.
The celebrations will continue on Sunday, June 22, with a special thanksgiving service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 34 Headquarters (Unity Model Parish), located behind the Junior Staff Quarters in Asaba.
The service, scheduled for 10am, will be led by the Speaker alongside members of the 8th Assembly and will culminate in a reception at the Legislators’ Quarters along Okpanam Road.
The thanksgiving service is expected to draw dignitaries from within and outside the state and will serve as a moment of reflection and praise for two years of legislative service to the people of Delta State.
Mr. Nwaeke urged members of the public to join the Assembly in the celebration, emphasizing the legislature’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and the welfare of all Deltans.
He added that the anniversary is not only a time for celebration but also a reaffirmation of the Assembly’s dedication to good governance and impactful legislation.
