The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the party’s sole presidential and governorship candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was the highlight of the State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the party’s Secretariat in Asaba, under the chairmanship of Elder Omeni Sobotie.
The meeting was attended by SEC members as well as APC chairmen from the 25 local government areas of the state.
In his address, Elder Sobotie urged party leaders to remain steadfast, disciplined, and united under the leadership of Governor Oborevwori.
He emphasized the importance of harmony and loyalty in strengthening the party’s structure ahead of the next general elections, calling on members to embrace reconciliation and inclusion across all levels.
Discussions at the meeting focused on grassroots mobilization, consolidating unity, and repositioning the APC as a dominant force in Delta politics.
Members were also briefed on an upcoming empowerment programme designed to deliver tangible benefits to communities and party faithful across the state.
The SEC thereafter passed a resolution endorsing President Tinubu as the APC’s sole presidential candidate, citing his visionary leadership, bold economic reforms, and commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Similarly, Governor Oborevwori was adopted as the party’s sole candidate for the Delta governorship race in 2027, with members commending his inclusive style of governance and achievements under the M.O.R.E Agenda.
The motion for the endorsement was moved by Chief Ubu Jiminyevwe Digbame, State Assistant Auditor, and seconded by Pastor Norbert Sochukwudinma, Chairman of Aniocha South APC. The resolution received unanimous approval, with members applauding in support.
The meeting ended with prayers for unity, peace, and progress led by Sir Joshua Kekeje, Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government Area.
In a communiqué signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq., the Delta APC reaffirmed its commitment to discipline, unity, and service, pledging to mobilize massive grassroots support to secure a decisive victory for the party in 2027.
