Delta APC Chieftain Eboh Faults Okubor’s Criticism Of Delta North Meeting, Calls For Party Discipline

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Engineer Emmanuel Afam Eboh, has dismissed as a gross misrepresentation of facts the recent remarks by Dr. Festus Okubor, Chief Strategist to the State Governor, concerning the Delta North Senatorial meeting hosted by Senator Ned Nwoko at his country home in Idumuje-Ugboko.

In a statement on Friday, Eboh stated that contrary to Okubor’s claims in a media interview, the June 14, 2025 meeting was properly convened in line with the constitutional provisions of the APC.

Describing Okubor’s concerns as “alarmist and ill-informed,” Eboh said it was unfortunate that a relatively new member of the party like Okubor would make uninformed comments capable of inciting division within the party.

“Senatorial meetings in Delta North have been an established tradition long before Dr. Okubor joined the APC just a few months ago.

Such meetings are convened at the instance of the senatorial chairman, who reserves the right to delegate any respected leader within the district to host.

This authority was duly exercised by the Delta North APC leadership under Chief Adizue Eluaka, who requested Senator Ned Nwoko to host the June 14 meeting,” Eboh explained.

He emphasized that the responsibility of convening senatorial meetings lies with the senatorial chairman, not the deputy governor or any other political office holder, adding that both Eluaka and Nwoko acted within the ambit of their roles.

Eboh hailed the meeting as a resounding success, drawing thousands of APC leaders and stakeholders from across the district.

He noted that the gathering was particularly significant for its symbolic endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and Senator Ned Nwoko for second terms ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The APC is a party built on discipline, structure, and decorum. We must eschew reckless and inflammatory remarks that threaten the unity of the party.

“I urge all members, regardless of when they joined, to be guided by the party’s constitution and uphold internal cohesion,” Eboh advised.
