A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Emmanuel Afam Eboh, has called for the zoning of the party’s next Delta State chairmanship position to Delta North Senatorial District in the interest of equity, fairness, and internal cohesion.
In a press statement, Chief Eboh said the demand had become imperative, particularly as the current state chairman of the party hails from Delta Central Senatorial District, the same district as the incumbent governor.
He stressed that sustaining harmony and balance within the party requires adherence to an equitable distribution of leadership positions among the three senatorial districts.
The APC stalwart maintained that Delta North is justifiably positioned to produce the next state chairman, noting that Delta South previously held the position for eight years and six months in the multi-ethnic state.
According to him, a rotational leadership arrangement would promote unity, deepen internal democracy, and reinforce a sense of belonging among party faithful.
Chief Eboh further expressed concern over indications that the state chairmanship may once again be ceded to Delta South instead of Delta North.
He urged key stakeholders to uphold what he described as the “appropriate power rotation of party leadership” to safeguard cohesion and stability within the party.
“I appeal to well-meaning leaders of our great party, especially founding members in the state and the national leadership of the APC, to intervene and ensure that the right thing is done.
“A just resolution will not only guarantee balance in the party’s leadership structure in Delta State but also consolidate the party’s strength for the benefit of all members,” he stated.
Emphasizing the strategic importance of inclusivity, Chief Eboh noted that a party structure built on fairness and rotation would better position the APC for electoral success at both the state and national levels in the forthcoming general elections.
He expressed confidence in Delta North’s capacity to provide credible and experienced leadership, affirming that the district boasts competent hands capable of steering the party effectively in the build-up to the 2027 polls.
