…Urges Governor to Assent to Community Security Bill
The Delta Online Publishers Forum (DOPF) has congratulated the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and the people of the state on the celebration of Delta’s 34th anniversary.
Delta State, created on August 27, 1991, by former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, has grown into a hub of rich cultural diversity, socio-economic progress, and people-oriented governance.
In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Ehvwubare Oghenekparobo, FIMC, ANIPR, the Forum commended Governor Oborevwori for his pragmatic leadership and the visible impact of his M.O.R.E Agenda, noting improved quality of project delivery, particularly in road infrastructure.
DOPF, however, urged the Governor to use the 34th anniversary as an opportunity to sign into law the Community Security Bill recently passed by the Delta State House of Assembly.
The Forum said the Bill, once implemented, would provide a strong institutional framework to complement existing security measures and address one of the most pressing challenges facing communities and businesses in the state.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we commend the contributions of past leaders and all arms of government to the progress of Delta since creation,” the statement read.
“We also salute the resilience of Deltans, whose determination continues to drive the state’s forward march.”
The Forum reaffirmed its commitment to promoting government programmes and policies through constructive reportage, balanced analysis, and developmental journalism in the collective interest of building a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Delta State.
