The congratulation at the Flock of Christ Mission in Warri, kept on cheering for over 10 minutes as the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), for the 2023 polls in Delta State, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, was introduced.
The former minister of State for education was in the church, pastored by Bishop Dr. Simeon Okah, to pray, interact and seek support ahead of 2023 gubernatorial election .
Olorogun Gbagi, a leading philanthropy in the State, Nigeria and beyond, received ovation from the congregation under the platform of a non-profit organization called Pastors Forum for Sustainable Development.
The group which started 12 years ago, was formed in a dire need for genuine leadership in the state and is anchored by Bishop Dr Jude Akhere, Senior Pastor of Pasture of Life Christian Assembly, with headquarters in Asaba, the capital of Delta State.
In his remarks at the occasion held at the headquarters of Flock of Christ Mission, Warri, oversees by Bishop Dr. Okah, the immediate past Vice President, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), South-south zone, the ovation got higher when Gbagi, disclosed that he would from the inception of his administration pay N30, 000 each to every Delta youth before computarizing them and giving them employment.
He said: “As I go round communities and talk to people, I say to them that the Delta State for several reasons is the richest State in Nigeria and Africa.
“Delta State is endowed. The singular reason I am challenged that I want to contest, I told the Olu of Warri during his one year anniversary that from this his local government alone, I can make N1 billion every year.
“There is wealth in Delta but today we are relying on Federal Allocation that is hardly now available. All the resources we have we did not transform them into industry and a State that is not industry driven, cannot be a successful state.
“I have said this state is too successful for us not to give full scholarships to the University level to children and citizens from Delta State and by the grace of God that is what my government will do.
“I started by saying that with the money we are going to save from the waste that is going on in the state, I will pay every Deltan who is a youth, the sum of N30, 000.
“Please, anything I say, hold me to it. I will not pay them forever. From the day I am sworn-in, I will pay every Delta youth N30, 000.
“As I am paying you that money, I am computarizing you. You want to be a nurse, tailor, carpenter, a doctor. As I give you job by bringing these oil companies and developing the state, I am giving you employment.
“I can take 20, 000 drivers in two months. As I pay you that money, I engage and I enlist you into services and unless all my youths are gainfully employed and that they are been paid, our economy is dead. I will provide them a job”, he said.
