Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, has expressed hope that Deltans would not mortgage their future by voting for the wrong choice of candidate come 2023.
The former minister of State for education, said if Deltans would need development, good medical facilities and prompt payment of salaries, he is the right man to occupy government house as governor.
He made the assertion during a press briefing at his Oginibo country home in Ughelli south local government area of the state.
Asked if his party has the political structure to clinch victory at the polls, he said elections in the country have gone beyond party as the electorate are no longer willing to cast their votes for party but individuals.
“The election we are going to hold in 2023 is not on the basis of structure. The market women, pensioners, artisans, school teachers, churches and church goers will vote. They don’t have any structure.
“It is an election where you are supposed to pick somebody that you believe can guarantee the future of your children, children yet unborn and the State.
“Among all of us who have been thrown up as governorship candidates, the choice is yours. If you want to pick somebody who will deaden the State than we already have, is your business.
“If you want the state to develop, get your salary as at when due and you finish pension and you get your salary, provided you will not complain after May 29 2023.
“If you participated in selling your birthright for a package of being bribed and being told stories. I resonate to work with the youths of the State, pensioners, teachers, doctors and any and everybody that mean well for Delta State.
“So, the issue of structure have nothing to do, everybody know me already and knows what I stand for. So, if you believe I can do the work vote. I am running the party under SDP and for your information, this is the first time in my life I am going to run election with any political party. I can assure you, I will win the election. I am a competent man”, he assured.
