It is now an open secret that the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ovie Augustine Omo-Agege, is not a full-fledged Urhobo son even though he has enjoyed the privileges to climb to the current position where he is today, politically.
While Deltans are yet to come to terms with the fact that the Urhobos of Orogun speaking people, originally migrated from Abbi in Ndokwa west local government area of Delta state, another mind-blowing revelation, was let out of the bag.
But first, from inception, the king of Orogun instead of being referred to as Ovie, as in other Urhobo towns/clans, he is addressed as Okpara-Uku, this confirm the fact that Orogun speaking people are foreigners as the traditional title Okpara-Uku, is not an Urhobo title for the throne.
Coming to the latest discourse about the APC gubernatorial candidate, which has become a topical issue, one Richard James, who wrote from Warri, said some hidden facts are being exposed and one of such is the true identity of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
James in making his findings public reaffirmed what is in the public domain that Omo-Agege’s mother is an Itsekiri from Koko in Warri north.
He further alluded that she hailed from Nana Olomu linage and a sister to Mrs Ayomike the wife of Pa. Ayomike, former chairman, Itsekiri leaders of thought.
According to James and published on Facebook by Arise News247, Ovie Omo-Agege lost his mother at a very young age and she was buried in Koko.
But why should the Deputy Senate President, hide this part of his life? Why should be first lie to himself and his followers and indeed Deltans? Why should politicians take oath of office laced with lies?
Recall that on the 5th of December 2022, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ovie Augustine Omo-Agege, at Saint Lazarus Christ Church, he told the congregation during question and answer session on his identity, he said his mother is from Aghalokpe, Okpe local government area of Delta State.
Now, is it correct to say that Omo-Agege, is lying to the church? Is he deceiving the Urhobos? Is he deceiving Deltans?
What is wrong in someone of his status, as the Deputy Senate President, who wants to govern Delta State being honest?
A man who can lie with perfidy on the altar, will he still be seen as a Christian? Where then, is the level of character and integrity we all need to liberate Delta?
Whose mother was then buried in Koko?
Can the Urhobo for once not find theirs that is purely Urhobo to be held accountable without coloration?
Yes! The incoming Governor of the state under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), His Excellency, Olorogun Gbagi, fits into this.
He is paternally from Oginibo, Ughelli south local government area and maternally from Idjerhe, Ethiope west local government area both an Urhobo speaking communities.
