Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has expressed condolences to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, over the sudden death of his Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr. Chamberlain Nnamdi Dunkwu.
The late Dr. Dunkwu, a native of Ute-Okpu in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, reportedly passed away in the early hours of Saturday, March 7, 2026, without any prior signs of illness.
In a condolence message issued on behalf of the 36 State Houses of Assembly across the country, Rt. Hon. Guwor conveyed deep sorrow over the passing of the Deputy Chief of Staff, describing the loss as shocking and painful.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, the Conference of Speakers Chairman noted that Dr. Dunkwu’s dedication to duty, professionalism, and commitment to legislative development would remain memorable to all who had the privilege of working with him.
Guwor also extended his sympathies to the immediate family of the deceased, the people of Ute-Okpu community, and the entire Ika North East Local Government Area, as well as the Ika Federal Constituency, describing the late Dr. Dunkwu as a worthy ambassador of the Ika nation.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Chamberlain Dunkwu, who hails from Ute-Okpu in Ika North East, Delta State.
“On behalf of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria and the Delta State House of Assembly, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, over this tragic loss,” Guwor stated.
He prayed that God grants the family, friends, and associates of the late Dr. Dunkwu the fortitude to bear the painful loss, while also asking God to grant the departed soul eternal rest.
“My condolences also go to the immediate family of the deceased, the Ute-Okpu community, his friends, and associates. This is indeed a painful loss.
‘May the soul of Dr. Chamberlain Dunkwu rest in peace, and may the bereaved find comfort in the Almighty God during this difficult time,” he added.
