The Delta State Job and Wealth Creation office will wear a new look entirely with the man with the midas touch, coming from the comradeship perspective, thereby bringing it to an enviable height under the ex-commissioner for Youth, Comrade Ifeanyi Egwunyenga.
Addressing journalists shortly after his budget defense at the just concluded Committee’s Budget Defense, he vowed that he and his management team would take the MORE Agenda of the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to a whole new level.
Hear him: “We just finished our budget defense. We believe that with our proposal and our new direction in terms of initiative to move the State forward viz-zavis the wealth creation, I am sure that Deltans will be better for it.
“And the MORE Agenda of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, will definitely be taken to a whole new level from the next year’s budget”.
On the governor’s directive for his agency to create jobs for Delta youths to cushion the effect of the harsh economy, he said: “when I assumed office as the Chief Job and Wealth Creation Officer, first, was to sit back and have a holistic look and how best to approach the issues, look at what is existing, how far we have gone, what we need to do and where we are going to.
“And for us, we believe that dealing with the issues of job creation, one has to deploy a multi-facet approach, it is not a one line issue.
“In the past, we have done a lot in vocational training, skill acquisition and all that but this time, from the job creation perspective, from what we are doing, we are diversifying.
“We are also going to look at other special skills, trending skills that today, are market trending that will push the economy and that can even help our youths work remotely from their various homes and also not just the State players but national and international players.
“The Internet has afforded us a lot of opportunities but this time, we will also come up with initiatives that we believe that can upturn the negative to the positive.
“The MORE Agenda of His Excellency, by the grace of God, going forward, in the 2025 budget from the Job Creation Office, is going to be a lot of diversification in terms of creating job opportunities.
“We are not just only going to do that just by the State government, we are also looking at getting partners and collaborators in terms of helping us to push this initiative and create opportunities for our teeming youths in Delta State.
On Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP), Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurship Programme (YAGEP), Graduates Employment Enhancement Programme (GEEP) and Information and Communication Technology – Youth Empowerment Programme (ICT-YEP), and other programmes offered by the office, he assured that they would come back, “and they will come back with a banner, that I can assure you”, he said.
