Committee Eulogies Delta SSG On 2021 Budget Performance

House  Committee on Establishment, Ethics and Privileges Commends the Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG) on the 2021 Budget Performance.

The commendation was given during the Budget defence just as the SSG’s Office proposed a budget estimate of N11, 2279, 829, 161 only for the 2022 fiscal year.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Chief Patrick Ukah, disclosed this in Asaba today when he appeared before the House Committee on Establishment, Ethics and Privileges to defend the 2022 fiscal year budget proposal for the office.

Chief Ukah stated that the total proposed estimate of N11.2b was made up of N9, 982, 812,161 for recurrent expenditure and N1, 297, 000 only for capital expenditure.

The SSG further stated that what was approved in the 2021 budget for the office of the SSG was twelve billion, nine hundred and eighty six million, seventy eight thousand, seven hundred and forty one naira only, N12, 986, 78, 741.

He noted that despite the challenges of the first three quarters of the year 2021, his office continued to measure up in addressing the challenges faced by the office which included steadying the wheel of governance to ameliorate the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic on the citizenry, adding that the office utilized its budget in attending to the strategic needs of the state.

Chief Ukah stated that the capital budget performance up to September, 2021 stood at 71% and expressed optimism that the House in recognition of the strategic role of the office of the Secretary to the State Government would approve the proposed budget to enable it achieve the mandate of the office in the next fiscal year.

The Chairman, House Committee on Establishment, Ethics and Privileges, Hon. Innocent Anidi, commended the SSG’s office for achieving 71% performance on the 2021 capital budget which according to him was a good result.

He urged the office of the SSG to assist other MDAs towards meeting up with their set goals in line with their budgets.
