Burial Rites For Late Senator Peter Nwaoboshi Begin February 12

The Burial Media and Publicity Committee for the late former Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Sen. Barrister Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, has announced the programme of events for his final rites.

The committee disclosed this following its meeting held on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) Conference Room in Asaba.

According to the approved schedule, the burial activities will span over two weeks, beginning on Thursday, February 12, 2026, with a Valedictory Session at the Senate Chamber of the National Assembly in Abuja.

The session is expected to draw serving and former lawmakers who will pay glowing tributes to the late statesman.

A Vigil Mass will also be held the same day at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, Abuja.

As part of activities lined up to honour the former federal lawmaker, a Night of Tributes has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the Dome Event Centre, Government Reserved Area (GRA), Asaba.

The event is expected to attract political leaders, dignitaries, associates, family members, friends, and well-wishers who will celebrate his life, service, and legacy.

The programme will continue on Thursday, February 26, 2026, with a Service of Songs and Vigil Mass at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Ibusa, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

A Court Valedictory Session in honour of the late senator’s contributions to the legal profession and the judiciary will hold at the High Court Complex, GRA, Asaba, at 10:00 a.m. on February 27, 2026.

Later the same day, a Funeral Mass will take place at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Ibusa, at 12:00 noon, followed by interment.

A reception for guests is scheduled to hold at the Anioboshi Primary School Field, near the Federal Girls’ College, Ibusa, by 2:00 p.m.

Traditional burial rites, including the revered Okanga and Ogbu dances, will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, alongside other customary ceremonies at his Isieke family home in Ibusa, in accordance with community traditions.

The Burial Media and Publicity Committee called on political associates, friends, colleagues, well-wishers, and members of the public to take note of the programmes and participate in the activities to pay their last respects to the departed senator.

The committee also expressed appreciation to individuals and organisations that have sent condolence messages and support to the family, praying for divine blessings upon them.

The statement was jointly signed by the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee, Mr. Patrick Ukah, and the Secretary, Mr. Phil Elueme.
