Youths under the auspices of Delta State PDP Youth Council, Ughelli south chapter have defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), ahead of the governorship election.
The defection of the PDP youths and their supporters to the SDP might not be unconnected to what some party stalwarts described as “a group of arrogant, proud, failed, manipulated and confused slaves under the leadership of the State governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa”.
Members of the PDP Youth Council which were led by Comrade David Duvwari, were received into the SDP fold by the South-south National Vice Chairman, Elder Fred Owotorofa, in Oginibo, Ughelli south local government area of the State.
Comrade Duvwari, who spoke on behalf of the PDP Youth Council, on Tuesday March 7th 2023, described the SDP gubernatorial candidate as a father, “you have been a father and you will always be a father”.
“We are all from Ughelli south. I am from Ughievwen kingdom and a lot of other people with us are from Ewu, Olomu, Okparabe and Arhawanrien axis.
“By the grace of God, during our sitting, we decided that as a father that you have been, we have come to show solidarity and to throw our support behind you.
“Not only that, we are going to mobilize and vote for SDP, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi. I am not saying this because I want to score cheap popularity.
“You have seen a lot and you have done a lot, we are learning from your state of life. I belong to one man riot squad. I am not afraid of anything.
“We wish to live and follow your steps and that is why we decided as a body interest wise to come today, that we are casting our votes for SDP and Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi”, he declared.
In his remarks, Gbagi who commended them for taking the wise decision, said he has no competitors in the race.
“You people are the wiser lots. I congratulate you people for being sensible. A lot of people from Ughelli south are beginning to realize and they are come back home because Ughelli south will produce the next governor”.
