The Vice Presidential ambition of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and governor of Delta state has suffered yet another major setback following the rejection of his candidacy.

This follows the resignation of one of his uncounted political appointees, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development, Osheokwu Onochie, on the 6th of October 2022.

This came two days after the Commissioner in charge of the Directorate of Project Monitoring and Audit in the state, Anthony Onoriode Ofoni, in a letter littered with poor spellings, poor tenses and poor construction, sacked
Atare Awin, a media technical aide for supporting Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election.

The resignation dated October 6, 2022 was addressed to His Excellency, Executive Governor of Delta State through the Secretary to Delta State Government.

Onochie, in a resignation letter obtained by The Story, said his decision was in response to the call for a better Nigeria.

“I wish to officially intimate your office of the resignation of my appointment as Senior Special Assistant on Youth Development with immediate effect.

“My decision to resign is premised on moral and call of every Nigeria Youth for a new and better Nigeria, sir on this ground I have decided to be fully “Obidient” to their call so we work together to achieve a better new Nigeria.

“However, I thank your Excellency for the opportunity given to me to serve in your government for over three years as Senior Special Assistant on Youth Development. Kindly accept the assurance of warmest regards always”.

It would be recall that The Story, had reported that a political appointee, Special Assistant on Youth Development to the Delta State Governor, Onochie Osheokwu, resigned to join forces with the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, ahead of the 2023 election.
