Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved automatic scholarships for the best graduating students in all four state-owned universities, an incentive designed to deepen academic excellence and fast-track youth development.
The Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board confirmed the approval. Its Executive Secretary, Dr. Godfrey Enita, said the initiative aligns with the Governor’s M.O.R.E. Agenda, especially the focus on boosting human capital development.
Under the new policy, the Best Graduating Student from each academic session at Delta State University, Abraka; Southern Delta University, Ozoro; University of Delta, Agbor; and Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba will qualify.
Each beneficiary will receive full sponsorship to pursue a Master’s and Ph.D. in accredited Nigerian institutions.
The Board clarified that recipients must complete standard documentation before accessing the award.
Enita noted that the scheme reflects the government’s determination to groom a skilled, globally competitive generation equipped to drive Delta State’s long-term growth.
He added that the Board remains committed to expanding opportunities that reward excellence and uplift students.
The initiative is expected to motivate undergraduates across state-owned universities and reinforce Delta State’s position as a rising centre of educational advancement in Nigeria.
