The pioneer Bishop of the Diocese of Ughelli (Anglican Communion), Vincent Omasheho Muoghereh, passed away at the age of 85.
According to reports by Niger Delta Today, the revered cleric died on Monday after a brief illness, as confirmed by sources close to the family.
The late bishop, who was selected in 1997 and consecrated on January 6, 1998, Feast of Epiphany, served as the spiritual head of the Diocese of Ughelli until his retirement in 2010.
A native of Uwheru Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Bishop Muoghereh, fondly known as “Baba,” was widely respected for his humility, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the growth of the church.
During his tenure, the Diocese witnessed significant expansion, marked by the establishment of new parishes, archdeaconries, and the spread of the gospel across and beyond the region.
As of the time of filing this report, the Diocese of Ughelli is yet to issue an official statement on his passing.
He is succeeded by Cyril Odiboroghere Odutemu, the current Bishop of Ughelli Diocese and Archbishop of Bendel Province.
The death of Bishop Muoghereh marks the end of an era, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and impactful leadership within the Anglican Communion.
