Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and former minister of State for education, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi and the incumbent governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, met in Abuja.

The duo are meeting about two months after things fell apart following what Gbagi described as anti-democratic conduct of Okowa, leading to his withdrawal from the governorship race under the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) before the conduct of the primaries.

Gbagi in his withdrawal letter titled: “Threat to Life, Anti-democratic Conduct by His Excellency Ifeanyi Okowa Governor Delta at Government House Asaba’ addressed to the PDP national chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, wherein he copied the  the party’s Legal Adviser, Gbagi1 accused Okowa of hijacking, threatening his life, bribing of delegates and having a predetermined outcome for the primaries.

The path of the largest private investor in the state whose gubernatorial ambition under SDP has spread like wide Harmattan fire across the three Senatorial District of the state and Okowa, came across each other on Thursday July 28th 2022, at the National Ecumenical Center during the 12th General Assembly and Leadership Transition of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), held in Abuja.

Gbagi who was rejected by the PDP, a party he is a founding father, has become the most accepted governorship candidate as the scriptures says in Psalms 118:22 “the stone the builder rejected, has become the cornerstone”.

The Social Democratic Party, apart from being the oldest party, it was the platform with which MKO Abiola and Olorogun Felix Ibru, won the freest election in Nigeria and Delta State.

This is what Deltans are determined to replicate by voting massively for the party’s governorship candidate, Olorogun Gbagi, come 2023.
