Ex-warlord leader and influential figure in the Niger Delta region, Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has expressed confidence that the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, will be reinstated.
Tompolo made this declaration during celebrations marking his birthday on Saturday, held in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

Governor Fubara was suspended in March under controversial circumstances following a directive by President Bola Tinubu.
In his absence, a sole administrator, Ibok-ete Ibas, was appointed to oversee the affairs of Rivers State for an initial six-month period.
While addressing guests at the event, Tompolo underscored the unity and resilience of the Ijaw Nation, stating:
“We have only one state, and our focus remains on Bayelsa. If you think power lies solely in being president or governor, and you attempt to undermine Bayelsa, you will face consequences.”
He further emphasized solidarity within the region, asserting:
“One of us is stronger than twenty. Our brother, the governor of Bayelsa State, no matter our political disagreements—will always have our support.”
Referring to the suspended Rivers State governor, he added:
“Even in Rivers State, our son Fubara will return to his rightful place. Dialogue and understanding will prevail.”
Tompolo also reflected on the political dynamics that led to Fubara’s emergence, referencing former Governor Nyesom Wike’s role in his ascension:
“Wike is my friend, but when he chose Fubara, no Ijaw man was involved or consulted. Yet, here we are standing for truth.”
Governor Fubara’s suspension, along with that of other elected officials, stemmed from an ongoing political conflict between him and his predecessor, Wike—a dispute that continues to shape the political landscape in Rivers State.
