The political landscape of Ukwuani Local Government Area was rattled on Tuesday following the suspension of the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Barr.) Possible Ajede, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward 10, Obiaruku, for alleged gross misconduct and breach of party rules.
In a letter dated 12th August 2025, signed by the APC Ward 10 Chairman, Mr. Akpotowho Chukwudi, and endorsed by members of the ward executive committee, Ajede was accused of multiple infractions ranging from abandonment of party activities to circulation of forged documents.
According to the suspension notice, the allegations against Ajede include:
1. Abandonment of Party Activities
The letter alleged that since his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, Ajede had failed to attend Ward 10 meetings, thereby neglecting his duty of participation as a member.
2. Unauthorised Convening of Meetings
The Ward Chairman accused Ajede of presiding over APC stakeholder meetings in Council Hall, Ukwuani LGA, and at Elomax Event Centre, Asaba, without proper authorisation and in disregard of directives from the APC LGA Chairman.
3. Usurpation of Party Chairman’s
Constitutional Functions – The letter claimed Ajede wrongfully assumed the role of Party Chairman by summoning ward chairmen, including Ward 10’s, without due authority.
4. Circulation of Forged Documents and Misleading Public Statements
The Ward 10 leadership alleged that Ajede issued a widely publicised letter claiming the suspension of the APC LGA Chairman, attaching documents believed to be forged, which they say misrepresented facts and damaged the party’s public image.
The Ward Executive resolved to suspend Ajede from the APC for three months with immediate effect and to set up a disciplinary committee to investigate the allegations in detail.
During the suspension period, he is barred from participating in any party-related activities.
The decision, according to the letter, was taken “in line with the APC Constitution and the mandate of the Ward Executive to maintain party discipline and uphold the integrity of the organisation.”
The suspension notice was copied to key political figures, including APC Delta State Chairman Elder Omeni Sobotie, Delta State Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Senator Ned Nwoko, and other party leaders at state and local levels.
As of press time, Hon. Ajede had not issued any public statement in response to his suspension.
