The internal crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Delta State, resulting in suspension, counter-suspension and expulsion of key party members, including the party’s governorship candidate, in the March 18th gubernatorial election, Senator Ovie Augustine Omo-Agege, from the party.

The expulsion letter dated March 30th, and signed by the State Chairman, Hon. Isaac Ulebor, expelling Omo-Agege, who doubles as the Deputy Senate President cum Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly (NASS), said Omo-Agege was expelled “after due deliberation of the notice of resolution of expulsion of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as a member of the party by the executive committee of the Orogun Ward and Ughelli north local government chapter dated 20th March 2023”.

“And accordance to provision of Article 21.2 (I)(Ii)(vii) 21.3 and 21.5(g) of the constitution (as amended), we unanimously resolved and adopted the expulsion of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as a member of the Party.

“Consequently, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege hereby stands expelled as a member of the Party with immediate effect for various offences and acts of Anti-party activities and gross misconduct that has brought shame and ridicule to the image of the Party in the State which affected the party in the just concluded elections”.

But a source close to the gubernatorial candidate said most of the names on the letter are not known to the party.

According to the source, “the truth is that most of the names in that letter that is circulating, is holding any position in APC.

“I think I know two or three as members of APC because a larger number of the names …. because we are taking time to reach APC leaders.

“Most of the names are fictitious names, they are not even names of human beings that are known to Delta APC”, the source added.

At press time, text message sent to the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Deputy President of the Senate Sunny Areh, was not replied.

Meanwhile, the Director, Communications and Media Strategy, Delta APC Campaign Council and member, APC Presidential Campaign Council, Ima Niboro, said: “Fake. I’m sure you know that’s not the membership of the APC Delta SEC. We don’t even know who they are. It’s a silly fake”, he stressed.
