The Spiritual Leader of Okpe Kingdom, Archbishop Godday Iboyi, has rejected the appointment offered him by the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, as member of the State Christian Pilgrims Board.
Archbishop Iboyi, is the founder of Promise Kingdom Ministries, (aka) Overflow, with headquarters in Sapele, the administrative headquarters of Sapele local government area of the State,
Oborevwori appointed Archbishop Iboyi, alongside 17 others yesterday Saturday December 16th 2023.
Archbishop Iboyi who is the president of Okpe Christian Assembly, another christian body outside the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), known to Okpe alone, announced his decision on Sunday 17th December 2023, 24 hours after his appointment.
In a social media post, he said he is not “interested in the insulting appointment”, insisting that “it should be considered rejected”.
It would be recall that The Story, had published that the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori had appointed the Spiritual Leader of Okpe Kingdom, Archbishop Godday Iboyi as member of the state’s Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.
At the time of publishing this report, the State government was yet to officially react to Archbishop Iboyi’s rejection of the appointment.
His state reads:
MY ATTENTION HAS BEEN DRAWN TO A PUBLICATION FLYING ROUND ON THE SOCIAL MEDIA THAT I HAVE BEEN APPOINTED AS A MEMBER OF DELTA STATE CHRISTIAN PILGRIM AND WELFARE BOARD, WHICH WAS WITHOUT MY CONSENT.
I’M USING THIS MEDIUM TO INFORM WHOSEVER MADE SUCH INSULTING APPOINTMENT THAT I’M NOT INTERESTED AND IT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED REJECTED.
