The author of the Book, “The Quintessence of Ibesenism”, George Bernard Shaw, once said: “The liar’s punishment is, not in the least that he is not believed, but that he cannot believe anyone else”.
This statement corroborates the assertion of the incoming Governor of Delta state under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), His Excellency, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON, FNIM, who said Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, “lies with perfidy”.
Gbagi, a former minister of state for education, made the shocking statement while addressing pastors in Ika Nation recently.
According to him, Okowa allegedly deceived him with the Bible for seven and half years, after promising to handover to him (Gbagi) but Okowa, failed to keep his word.
Hear him: “I confirm to you that I have a close relationship with Okowa and not any other governor since 1999 to date. For seven and half years, he said to everybody that matters, Gbagi, you are the only one who can solve this problem, I will handover to you.
“Not too long thereafter, in the last six months, things went the way they went. He was lied to that I am not controllable. But the word not controllable, actually means that I am not corruptible
“Okowa came here to beg me, to say Urhobos were fighting him. Ogboru, Kokori and co were fighting him. I am an equitable person, when I realized that it was the turn of Delta north.
“Nobody else came to me, he was the one who came, so I endorsed him and I did not just do that endorsement, I followed it up with my money. I gave Okowa money to contest the election in 2015.
“I have never seen one Kobo of Okowa in my life till date. When I did that, there was a number of issues.
“A number of persons spoke to me and gave me reasons why they believe that I am too wise to be talking and working with Okowa.
“But I believed that the man who has lived his life up to the extend that he has lived, what could be so important for him to keep lying?
‘And in any case what could lies do for any sensible person? And the consequences of his lies, thinking that he is wise is staring at him today, Okowa, is an empty person.
“Okowa, no longer have anybody, he thought he was smart. Three of you can come, Okowa, will tell this one something separately, Okowa, will come talk to this other person, tells him another thing and just like that.
“And he comes with a mien that you don’t believe that, that man could be a liar. That is why I told him that he lies with perfidy.
“All that I believed about him, was what he told me. I believed him! The last day I left PDP when he lied, I got to government house that day, we had agreed to meet the day earlier.
“Okowa had told me 700 times that Gbagi, you are the only one that can solve the problem of Delta and that I will hand over to you.
“He had told people, those of you who knows Fred Ajudua, he sent him to come here to meet me, he told the chairman of the party to come and meet me, all of that, I didn’t know that he was lying. I worked and campaign with my mind”, he stated.
Making more revelations, the foremost industrialist and frontline gubernatorial candidate hinted: “Okowa, is very good in calling God. If you see the way Okowa calls God, just as me, a Criminologist can fall for him, you will be shocked.
“If you go to Okowa’s office, he’s got one big red Bible with a cap folded on top of the Bible, you will never think that he could lie”, explaining that a man who has no shame, character and integrity would never lead properly.
