Four persons have died in an auto crash that occurred at the popular Ekiugbo Junction along the East— West road, Ughelli, north local government area of Delta State.
It was gathered that a Sienna vehicle conveying bunkery diesel lost control and ran into a parked Dangote truck.
It was learnt that the vehicle was escaping from security operatives when it lost control and ran into the parked truck, causing an explosion.
Footages from the scene captured some of the victims burnt beyond recognition and others covered with leaves.
Meanwhile, the portion of the road where the accident occurred has been barricaded from road users.
Confirming the accident newsmen, the Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), A.C. Ikechukwu Ken, said: “there was this Toyota car coming from Warri end towards Ughelli and the Toyota was carrying bunkery diesel. On the way because of the speed violation, the driver went and hit a parked truck and got in flames.
“As a matter of fact, four people were consumed, burnt beyond recognition at that point” disclosing that the incident occured around 6:14am.
He reiterated that the vehicle was carrying bunkery diesel which caused the inferno, adding that the four persons who died includes the Sienna driver and the occupants of the truck who were inside the truck as at when the accident occurred.
He disclosed that the Hausa community in the area came and took possession of their corps, just he advised drivers and commuters to avoid carrying inflammatory liquid inside their vehicles and avoid speeding.
