Beneficiaries of the Delta State Agricultural Neighbourhood Farms Interventions, Incentives Support Scheme (DANFIISS), has commended the state governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for the initiative.
The Scheme, as the name implies is an Agricultural intervention initiative by the state governor, specifically targeted at myriads of Neigbourhood Farmers across the state to increase their productivity.
The Scheme provides farmers with Personal Protection Equipments (PPE) such as gloves, rainboots, raincoats, helmets and other incentives given to small holder farmers, includes support in areas of improved planting materials, drugs, financial stipends and extension service on best practices.
Dr. Okowa, strategically brings Agricultural development to Delta State Farmers.
As a result of DANFIISS, a number of farmers have been able to increase their productivity which had directly increased their output, fresh food supply and generated income for sustainable livelihood.
The pilot edition of DANFIISS held on 17th October, 2018 was a huge success and amazingly turned 50 benefiting farmers from Asaba Metropolis to becoming self employed.
This success story is being replicated in the 25 local government areas in the State.
Recall that by October 17, 2020, the “Delta State Agriculral Neigbourhood Farm Intervention, Incentive Support Scheme” would have been on ground for two years running, supporting Delta farmers and adding its quota to accelerated agricultural development for a Stronger Delta state.
Due to the successful pilot edition of DANFIISS on October 17, 2018 that benefited 50 farmers, the office of the Special Assistant (SA) Job Creation and chairman DANFIISS has received applications from many interested Deltans in view of the second edition soon.
This surge of interested participants resulted in a “Roundtable interactive meeting” between Hon. Ebikefe Prembowei Frank and would-be beneficiaries held on February at Asaba.
Neighbourhood farmers from all walks of life used the opportunity to hear from beneficiaries of the Pilot scheme, brought up to speed with the methodology of the scheme and expectations from the government.
At the end of the interactive session, participants commended Governor Okowa for the laudable initiative and were glad to be possible beneficiaries.
