The state governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa stated this while presenting staff of office to HRM Isike Isaiah Edekere 1, the Odiologbo of Olomoro Kingdom.
Represented by his Deputy, Barr. Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, the governor commended the people of Olomoro community for the peaceful process leading to the presentation of staff of office to their monarch and called on other communities to emulate them.
He noted that the institution of Odiologbo had great significance for the people of Olomoro. He urged them to promote the integrity of the stool by according the traditional ruler the honour that is due it.
According to the Special Assistant on Media, Elohor Rita Agbra, the Deputy Governor appealed to the Odiologbo of Olomoro kingdom to discharge his responsibilities in a transparent manner by being fair and just as a father of all his subjects.
Otuaro advised the monarch not to give his subjects any cause to doubt his ability to uphold the sanctity of the custom of the people stressing the need for him to imbibe the democratic virtues of dialogue and consultations in all his dealings.
” As the guardian of the tradition of your people, it is important that you do not in words or action give any cause for your subjects to doubt your ability to uphold the sanctity of the customs. I sincerely appeal to you to imbibe the democratic virtues of dialogue and consultation in all your dealings with the people “– Otuaro stated.
Deacon Otuaro commended the Olomoro people for their gratitude for the appointments of their sons and daughters in the administration.
He noted that the request for the completion of the magistrate court, establishment of a police station in the community and other infrastructure will be channeled to the appropriate agencies of government for necessary attention.
The Deputy Governor urged the people to take advantage of the various empowerment programmes particularly the Delta State Production and Processing Support Programme to improve their production capacities being a community known for its abundant agricultural produce.
