When Hon. Lucky Avworomre, PhD, assumed office as the Chairman of Ughelli south local government area of Delta State, expectations were high.
Armed with academic credentials and lofty promises, he was seen as the leader who would usher in a new era of development and prosperity.
However, one year into his tenure, his performance has been nothing short of a disaster, leaving residents deeply disappointed and questioning their faith in his leadership.
Avworomre campaigned on a platform of transparency, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment.
Yet, these promises have largely been forgotten, buried under a wave of incompetence and poor governance.
Avweromre, is currently facing mounting criticism from residents frustrated with what they perceive as a lackluster performance.
Despite receiving substantial allocations, his administration has been accused of prioritizing minor projects, such as constructing security posts and patching potholes, over impactful, long-term development initiatives.
This has fueled concerns that Avweromre is either incapable of driving meaningful progress or simply lacks the vision to do so.
While other local government chairmen in Delta State are making significant strides in infrastructure, education, and economic development, Ughelli South remains stagnant under Avweromre’s leadership.
The growing disparity has led to calls for his removal, with critics arguing that his tenure has brought little to no transformation.
Defenders of his administration may point to security and basic infrastructure efforts, but many residents believe these efforts are insufficient in addressing the region’s deeper developmental challenges.
The criticism reflects broader frustration over missed opportunities for growth. With other LGAs in Delta witnessing bold initiatives, Avweromre’s focus on superficial projects has only intensified doubts about his leadership.
The people of Ughelli South are demanding more—real, visible progress that improves their daily lives and the future of their communities.
Whether Avweromre can step up and change this narrative remains to be seen, but for now, his administration is under intense scrutiny.
