The Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Obi Prof. Epiphany Azinge, has called on residents of the Cable Point area in Asaba, the Delta State capital, to be more security conscious.
The monarch made this appeal during a recent visit to the community, where he expressed concerns over rising insecurity, drug trafficking, and poor sanitation in the area.
He issued a stern warning to those involved in the sale and distribution of hard drugs, giving them an ultimatum to cease their activities or face the consequences.
To enhance security, the Asagba directed that the local vigilante group be strengthened and made more inclusive by incorporating all ethnic groups within the community.
He also assured residents that efforts would be made to restore Cable Point’s lost glory but emphasized that their cooperation was essential for meaningful progress.
In response, community members expressed their gratitude to the Asagba and his council of chiefs for the visit, pledging their support in ensuring a peaceful, clean, and safe environment.
The Director General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Patrick Ukah, who accompanied the monarch, assured the residents that he would bring their concerns to the attention of the state governor for necessary action.
Ukah further reassured the community that ongoing road construction in the area would soon be completed, as the state government had directed all engineers handling various road projects to expedite their work.
