The BONSAC and Oduke communities in Asaba were filled with excitement and celebration as His Royal Majesty, the Asagba of Asaba, Obi (Prof.) Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, paid his first official visit to the area.
He was accompanied by the chiefs of Asaba and the Director General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Patrick Ukah.
The visit was warmly received by residents, who expressed their joy at the monarch’s presence.
In his address, the Asagba commended the community for their hospitality and assured them of infrastructural improvements, including better roads and the establishment of a police post, key concerns raised by the residents.
A significant moment of the event was the Asagba’s announcement renaming BONSAC to Ajaji Layout Asaba, emphasizing that historical records of Asaba did not recognize the name “BONSAC.”
Addressing the press, Chief Ukah described the visit as timely and revealed that there is a road connecting the area to Achalla Ibusa, which the governor recently toured.
Said Ukah: “we have a road that is going from BONSAC straight to achalla Ibusa and that few days ago the governor and his team drove all the way from the beging to the end of the road to inspect the road.
“The governor has ordered that the completion of that road should be made a priority”.
Ukah further stated that he has also included some of the roads within the Capital Territory in the development scope, noting that the concerns raised by the people are equally important to the governor.
He emphasized the need for the people’s cooperation to achieve the desired progress.
The event was graced by high-ranking Asaba Chiefs, government officials, security agencies, members of the press, and other distinguished dignitaries
