The people of Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State, have thrown their weight behind Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, endorsing him for continuity in office until 2031 and pledging unwavering support for his re-election bid in 2027.

The endorsement was formally declared on Wednesday 10, 2025, at Government House, Asaba, when His Royal Majesty, Prof. Epiphany Azinge, SAN, OON, the Asagba of Asaba, led a high-powered delegation from the kingdom on a courtesy visit to the governor.

Commending the governor’s strides in infrastructure, human capital development, and urban renewal, Prof. Azinge described Oborevwori’s leadership as people-oriented and impactful.

“The love of my people for you is boundless, unshakable, and irreversible. In just two years, Asaba has witnessed rapid urbanization, improved security, and exponential investment across sectors, making it one of the fastest-growing state capitals in Africa,” the monarch declared.

The Asagba also thanked the governor for personally presenting him with the staff of office in November 2024, an honour he said symbolized recognition of the entire Asaba community.

He further appealed for the inclusion of Asaba indigenes in strategic government appointments, speedy completion of the International Conference Centre, development of a master plan for the capital city, and interventions in power supply, roads, water, schools, and healthcare facilities in adjoining communities.

In his response, Governor Oborevwori expressed gratitude to the monarch and the people of Asaba for their solidarity, describing traditional rulers as critical stakeholders in governance.

“It is always a pleasure to receive our revered traditional rulers whose wisdom and counsel continue to guide us. Since your ascension, Your Majesty, you have brought peace, unity, and cultural pride to the Asaba Kingdom,” the governor said.

He assured that his administration would continue to prioritize the capital’s development, citing ongoing projects such as the re-awarded storm drainage works handled by CCECC, the resurfacing of Nnebisi Road with streetlights, and the construction of new internal roads under the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency.

Oborevwori also revealed that the Federal Government had awarded the reconstruction of the Summit Junction–Head Bridge axis of the Benin-Asaba Highway to Heartland Construction Company, with the state government supporting compensation for persons affected by the Second Niger Bridge project.

Reaffirming his commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable growth, the governor urged Asaba people to extend goodwill to President Bola Tinubu to attract greater federal presence in the state.

“Asaba is the face of our state, and we must continue to make it beautiful and secure. Working together with our traditional rulers and communities, we will deliver more projects and ensure peace and progress across Delta State,” he assured.
