Two persons have been confirmed to be in life threatening condition after their vehicle was involved inna ghastly motor accident with two cars along the popular Refinery road, Uvwie local government area of Delta State.

Trouble started on Saturday August 6th 2022, when the occupants of the Blue Toyota Camry Car, driving on the double lane road to Warri, and ran into the cows which lose control from their owners.

It was gathered that the collusion with the cows caused the car to veer off the road and it eventually crashed on the wall fence of the Nigerian Navy building.

The occupants of the badly damaged car were reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital by good Samaritans while the two lifeless cows were sighted lying dead at the scene.

Security officials including police and soldiers were on ground to forestall any break down of law and order as of the time of filing this report.

The police public relations officer for Delta State Command, Bright Edafe, could not be reached for comments on the incident.

A journalist cum publisher of Niger Delta Today, Theophilus Okpare, who took to his Facebook page, blamed the state governor for playing lip service with the anti-grazing bill which would have saved the situation if effective in the state.

Hear him: “Governor Ifeanyi A. Okowa’s failure to enforce an Anti-Open Grazing Law he personally signed caused this terrible accident when herders were indiscriminately moving their cattle in the ever-busy Refinery Road, Effurun, Delta State.

“The cows veered off the other lane and ran into this speeding vehicle. Two of the cows died on the spot and the herdsmen fled the scene.

“Although no one died in the accident, two of the four occupants are in critical conditions and receiving treatment.

“It’s a shame that politicians can sacrifice their citizens for power. Nigerians should wisely use their mandates in 2023 elections”, he said.
