The Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps Delta State Chapter in partnership with the Nigerian Police Force has called on Deltans to ensure peace, security of lives and properties before during and after the elections.

The State President of Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps, Comrade, Uche Nwahandi Eboma while speaking in an interview with newsmen in Asaba, said there can be no meaningful development in as atmosphere of rancour

He noted that every one most come out enmass to exercise their franchise as election is the only way to elect credible leaders.

Nwahandi, who appreciated the state commissioner of police for championing the course, charged Deltans to abide by peace.

The Anti-Cult President who commended the attitude of politicians in the ongoing electioneering campaigns across the State, commended the police and other security agencies for their effort in ensuring peaceful political activities.

He explained that the group had embarked on training and retraining of its personnel ahead of the election and members of the Anti-Cult group are fully prepared for the 2023 elections.

Nwahandi, said that the smoking of drugs or at any gathering will not be allowed during election, as drugs kill and destroy, and therefore, anywhere use of drugs is discovered, the Anti-Cult group will not hesitate to storm the venue for necessary action.

He said, the Anti Cult will “police against elements who will try to disrupt the smooth conduct of the electoral exercise and control peace-loving citizens to enable them come out and vote”.

According to the Anti-Cult President, the force’s election plan extends long after the announcement of results.

He said, Delta State has a peace and cult free atmosphere because Anticult has gone beyond combating crimes like, armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, burglary, pipeline vandalism which all are all consequences of cultism.

Applauding the Police for their support in combating crime, he said, every Unit Commander must be on ground to make sure their unit has a remarkable
achievements during this elections.

Nwahandi Commended, Delta State Police Command, for unveiling new Uniforms Kits, Identity Card for members and encourage Patrons to make sure every Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps, AVC, in the State wear their Uniform.

Underscoring the importance of community policing, Nwahandi said the anti Cult Volunteer Corps had played key roles in partnering with the Police to address serious security challenges in communities across the state.

He explained that the Corps was basically a humanitarian service, and appreciated the efforts of every patrons in combating the menace of cultism in the state, stressing that the idea of community policing is about crime fighting as the Police can not do it alone.

He said; “the issue of security is everybody’s business. The Police can not do it alone”, adding that all over the world crime fighting was a collective one hence the need for inter agency cooperation and collaboration.

He noted that no country in the world had zero crime rate even the developed ones, noting that it can only be brought down astronomically particularly with the collaboration of stakeholders such as Anti Cult Volunteer Corps, vigilante and other sister security agencies playing their roles effectively.

While commending the Anti Cult Volunteer Corps for it’s commitment to stamp out cultism and other social vices from communities, the Anti Cult President advised the Patrons not to condone any bad egg among it’s fold who would want to use the Corps as a cover to engage in criminality, adding that such should be fished and shown the way out.

“I enjoin every members here of the Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps to be professional in discharge of your duties and desist from acts against the tenets of formation of AVC. As crime fighters, you must smoke out moles from within who sell out intelligence to their criminal cohorts. We should not allow saboteurs to be in our midst”, he said.

The President urged the anti cult Volunteer Corps to carry out their duties within the ambit of the law and should be exemplary in the conduct especially during the elections.
