The failed portions on Prof. Ebie Street, by Orubor Street Junction,
Agbor, Ika south local government area of Delta State, have been repaired.
The failed portions of the road which have turned into a dead trap were rehabilitated by the Councilor representing Ward 8, in the Ika south legislative arm, Hon. Donald Okonta, who noted that the safety of lives have been his watchword.
Speaking shortly after effecting the repairs, Okonta revealed that he has always rendered community service such as the repair of bad spots on roads before his election as Councilor Ward 8, Agbor.
The repaired portion of the road before now has been deadly, especially for those plying the road at night without being aware of the bad spot as countless fatal accidents, most especially by motorcyclists popularly known as okada riders have been recorded on the bad spot.
According to him, “The Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration has done excellent in the area of road construction.
“And in our little way, we should complement the efforts of the State government through the maintenance of roads by repairing bad portions, the much that our resources can afford before they get deteriorated.
While appreciating God Almighty for enabling him to attend to the needs of the community and individuals, he appealed to all to endeavor to contribute their quota for the society to be a better place.
In an interview, elated, Mrs. Roseline Osafile, who is in her 80s applauded the lawnmower for his timely intervention.
“I am happy and all I have to say is for God to bless you Donald Okonta for your good work.
“But its so shameful that even with the well-to-do individuals residing in the area, who could have done something before now did not instead help came from an outsider”, she said.
It would be recall that barely a month ago, the Councillor representing Okuzu/Obi-Ugbe quarters in Obiaruku (Ward20), Comrade Kenneth Ojimiwe, renovated the dilapidated toilet facility in Obiaruku ultramodern market to mark his 100 days in office.
