The Secretary, Maris Trust Council, MTC, organisers of the annual Maris Public Service Lecture Series, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, has said that there was no plan to postpone year 2024 edition of the annual public service lecture.

Egugbo, in a statement issued on Friday morning in Asaba, Delta State, disclosed that the lecture would hold on its traditional date of Wednesday of the Holy Week, that is, the Wednesday before Easter Sunday and for this year’s edition, it shall hold on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.

Though, he did not state where this year’s edition will take place, Egugbo stated that the clarification became necessary following calls and messages from participants from different parts of the world about the situation with this year’s edition.

He said, “I wish to confirm to the general public, particularly, participants at the annual Maris Lecture Series that by the grace of God, this year’s edition of the Maris Annual Public Service Lecture shall hold on its traditional date of every Wednesday before Easter Sunday and as such, for this year’s edition, it shall take place on Wednesday, March 27th.

“The Maris Trust Council, MTC, organisers of the annual lecture series is grateful to the general public, our sponsors and committed participants for believing that with the lecture series, challenges of the society would be identified and solutions proffered to them for the benefits of humanity.

“It is heartwarming to note that from the venue of last year’s lecture, Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, where a financial expert, Sir Fidelis Okenmor Tilije spoke on the topic, ‘Provision Of Infrastructure As Catalyst For Growth Of Democratic Governments,’ participants commenced the suggestions of topics and guest lecturers for this year’s edition.

“We are still looking at the topics to choose the best for this year’s edition and the Trust Council is also, going through the list of suggested names for the right person to deliver the lecture, and I can tell you that the Trust Council is open for suggestions of more names of persons to play different roles in this year’s edition and topics for discussion.

“It is good that most people from all over the world are interested in making the world a better place to live in and they are also, suggesting ways of contributing to the success of the lecture.

“For last year’s edition, we had in attendance, former Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, CON, Dr. Gabriel Ogbechie, Group Managing Director of Rainoil Limited as Chairman of occasion and the Chairman, Maris Trust Council, Sir Kenneth Kemneti, wife of the former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Lady Esther Elue, Dr Kemi Emina, Dr. Festus Okubor, Dr. (Barr) Paul Oweh, Comrade Olumami O.
