Reactions are beginning to trail the recent N40 billion loan approved by the Delta State House of Assembly for the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
Comments from Deltans on various social media handles criticized the governor for starting his administration with loan.
They equally blasted members of the House of Assembly for approving the loan without debate.
They accused members of the State House of Assembly of laxity and approving loan in their first sitting when there are more critical areas to look into.
Some of the reactions says, “The loan continues?
“Birds of the same feathers always flocks together. But the state and the people will out live all this loan, crazy set of leaders”.
“Delta State has been crippled by successive administrations. The State is now on her kneels begging for difficult survival.
“Resources made over about 24 years with about 10 trillion Naira appropriated, all mismanaged and looted into private pockets.
“Nothing to show today apart from dirty cities and those selling pure water with POS.
“We can look at our neighbors from Akwa Ibom and see the beauties of the dividend of democracy.
“Matter made worse, this loan will not be used for investments, industries or trade that will bring returns. It will be for consumption. To fund expensive lifestyle of politicians.
“Very good, the MORE agenda uploading, I hope we have not courted another disaster for ourselves”.
It would be recall that In it’s maiden plenary after inauguration of the 8th Assembly, the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), on Tuesday, 27th June, 2023, unanimously approved the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s request of forty billion naira (N40,000,000,000.00) Credit facility offers by Zenith Bank PLC to the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Delta State Chapter to defray substantial part of outstanding retirement benefits to Local Governments Pensioners.
