Delta youths have been charged to always defend constituted authorities of the land and be agents of change.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Patrick Ukah, gave the charge in his office in Asaba when the new executive of Okpanam Youths Organisation, Oshimili north local government area paid him a courtesy visit.
Chief Ukah, who pledged to give the Okpanam youths all the necessary assistance and advice if they were ready to work, urged them to ensure that they play solid roles in the emancipation of the youths in the area by mobilizing them to engage themselves in the youth empowerment programmes created by the state government.
He observed their determination and expressed optimism that the new executive would organize the youths properly and change their mindset for the good of all.
The SSG explained that it was the responsibility of the youths to compliment government’s efforts towards fighting insecurity in the state by giving government intelligent reports adding that the issue of banditry would be looked into.
Chief Ukah, who also pledged to organize a workshop for the youths to expose them to the rudiments of youth organization and educate them on ways to tackle issues, thanked them for acknowledging the good work done by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the people of Okpanam community.
On the issue of environmental sanitation, he urged them to lead by example by ensuring that their environment was cleaned during the monthly sanitation exercise for others to emulate them.
Earlier, the President of the Okpanam Youths Organization, Comrade Lucky Okolo, said they were in the SSG’s office to introduce the new executive of the organization and to thank him for assisting the youths towards actualizing their set goals.
Comrade Okolo listed the challenges facing the Okpanam Youths Organization to include peace resolution in the area, creation of jobs for the youths, boundary demarcation between the community and their neighbours and assistance from the state government in environmental sanitation exercise.
He thanked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the laudable infrastructural development in Okpanam community and pledged their continued support to the Okowa administration and prayed God to continue to protect and guide the SSG and the governor as they pilot the affairs of the state.
