Abandoned Irri-Aviara Road Project To Be Given Consideration — Otuaro

Delta State government has assured that the abandoned Irri-Aviara road project would be given consideration by the Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration.

The assurance was given at the presentation of Staff of Office to the Ovie of Aviara Kingdom, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Michael Efeareduo Ebobo Imoh 1, in his palace in Aviara Community, Isoko south local government area of the state.

The State Deputy Governor, Barr. Deacon Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, also promised that the government would look into the resurfacing of the Bethel-Oyede road and the construction of the Araya-Bible site road.

Barr. Otuaro who described the appeal for the various road projects by the Aviara people as legitimate, said he had also taken note of the appeal for the release of the land formerly meant for fish farming, cattle rearing and rice farming and the perimeter fencing of the palace as well as the completion of the Aviara Youth Skill Acquisition Centre.

The State number two man thanked the people of Aviara for their support to his administration.
He said the Aviara people are known for fishing, canoe carving and farming and should take advantage of the various government’s programmes particularly the Delta State Micro Credit Programme to improve their production capacities.

A release by the Special Assistant on Media to the Deputy Governor, Elohor Rita Agbra, noted that the Deputy Governor congratulated the Aviara monarch on his ascension to the throne of his forefathers. He commended the people for the peaceful process of succession to the throne and urged them to continue to accord the royal father the respect he deserves.

Otuaro called on the Aviara monarch, Ovie Michael Efeareduo Ebobo Imoh 1 to discharge his responsibilities in  transparent manner and carry his subjects along.

He advised the royal father not to give his subjects the cause to doubt his ability to uphold the sanctity of the customs and appealed to him to imbibe democratic virtues of dialogue and consultation in dealing with the people.

The Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Hon. Victor Asasa said the presentation of staff of office to the Ovie of Aviara kingdom has marked a new dawn for the people noting that tradition rulers played key roles in the promotion of peace, security and good neighborliness .

He noted that the state government has once again demonstrated its resolve to give traditional rulers their pride of place and recognition as veritable institutions for good governance particularly at the grassroots with the presentation of staff of office to the Aviara monarch.

The President General, Aviara Federal Union, Mr Charles Arugba thanked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the approval of Staff  office to the Ovie of Aviara Kingdom.

He drew the attention of the governor on the need to resurface the Aviara Bethel-Oyede road, construct Araya-Bible site road to boost tourism as well as perimeter fencing of the community palace and the completion of the Aviara Youth Skill Acquisition Centre.

Others waiting for attention are the release of two farm lands acquired by government over forty seven years for fish farming, cattle rearing and rice farming which have been under utilized for ages.

The Ugo of Aviara and former President General, Isoko Development Union, Chief Iduh Amadhe who chaired the event thanked the state government for making the dream of the Aviara people come true as they had longed for the recognition of the monarch and called for continued support to the present administration.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of staff of office to the Ovie of Aviara kingdom, HRM Michael Efeareduo Ebobo Imoh 1.
