Team Nasarawa is set to begin its campaign in the Girls’ Volleyball competition with an opening match against Team Imo at the ongoing 9th National Youth Games (NYG) in Asaba, Delta State.

The match will take place later today, Saturday August 30, 2025, at the Cenotaph, a multipurpose arena in Asaba known for hosting major state events and sporting activities, with a seating capacity of about 1,500.

In the official draws, Team Nasarawa was placed in Pool B alongside Kaduna, Kebbi, Imo, and Bayelsa, while Pool A features Delta, Abia, Edo, Lagos, and Oyo.

Only the top two teams from each pool will progress to the semifinals, setting the stage for keen competition among the states.

Team Nasarawa will be aiming to improve on its performance from last year’s edition, where it advanced to the quarterfinals before bowing out to Team Kaduna.

With renewed determination, the squad is confident of securing a stronger finish this year.

The 9th National Youth Games continues to serve as a platform for discovering and nurturing young sporting talents across Nigeria, and volleyball remains one of the key highlights of the championship.
